About us
aspire fitness was set up in 2004 by 3 self employed personal trainers. Our aim was to provide effective and affordable personal training so that it was accessible to everyone. We were originally working from a major gym, but we didn't like the fact that people had to join the gym to access our services. So, we decided to set up our own gym! aspire fitness gym opened its doors on 21st January 2008, what makes us different is that we have gym memberships that include personal training and, as we own the gym, we can provide it at a cheaper cost. Traditionally if you want personal training you have to use a mobile personal trainer with limited equipment or you would have to join a gym and pay for a personal trainer on top of your gym membership. We can now provide the gym and personal training and cut out the middle man!
Since opening the gym, our aim has not changed. We still want to provide effective and affordable personal training that is accessible to everyone, but it has now broadened - we now want to provide the biggest personal training gym in South Wales. As we currently have over 150 personal training clients and do over 250 training sessions a week, we are well on our way there!
About the trainers
Pete Smith
Personal training experience: 7 years
Pete was in the Army for 12 years. He is currently halfway through a physiotherapy degree. His interests include mountain biking, surfing, hillwalking and mountain climbing.
Joe Timmins
Personal training experience: 7 years
Joe's previous sports include Rugby for Colstons School in Bristol and American Football at university. His interests include surfing (he has surfed in Portugal, Peru, Fuertaventura and Ireland), kayaking, hill walking and mountain climbing.
Ben Morris
Personal training experience: 7 years
Ben is a sports science graduate. He currently plays rugby union for Rhumney RFC and rugby league for Newport Titans. His interests include sports conditioning, surfing, hillwalking and mountain climbing.
George Drew
Personal training experience: 4 years
George was in the army for 16 years. His interests include mountain and road biking, surfing, hill walking, mountain climbing, triathlons and cross country running.
Alexis Nugent
Personal training experience: 18 months Alexis is our newest trainer, she was originally a client of aspire fitness who impressed us enough for us to offer her a job! Her interests include rock climbing, hill walking, squash and running.
