Hypopressive Technique

Our hypopressive course, if followed correctly with instruction, will considerably improve pelvic floor function, ideal or even crucial for new mums.

Joe, personal trainer and sports therapist, is the only qualified hypopressive practitioner to run this course in the whole of Wales! New Mums, should take advantage of Joe being on your doorstep in Canton, Cardiff.

Joe takes the client through how it all works on a one-to-one basis. It’s all about breathing and diaphragm activation, but very different from spiritual yoga or pilates – it is specific, and was designed and heavily researched by Doctor Marcel Caufriez since 1980.

After having learnt the ins and outs of how it works, and having learnt the techniques, the client can continue the exercises daily at home for a month, and/or in a class setting with other mums who have been through the learning process in the same way.

How hypopressive exercise will benefit you:

  • Increase in abdominal and pelvic floor muscle tone (average 58%) increase
  • Treats/prevents urinary incontinence (involuntary eg induced from coughing)
  • Treats or prevents hernias (inguinal, umbilical, disk)
  • Treats or prevents organ prolapse (uterine, bladder, rectum)
  • Improved pelvic circulation
  • Better sexual function and improvements in sexual sensations and ability to orgasm
  • Tone abdominals and reduce waist size (average 8% reduction)
  • Normalize posture
  • Recover core after having your baby

The techniques have developed into a very sophisticated system of physical therapy treatments for functional pathologies (urinary, digestive and vascular), preventative methods, birth facilitation and performance enhancement.
